Flick Hawkins

UCT Chair

Flick Hawkins and her husband, James a well-established Landscape painter, have lived in the area since 1978 and have run their own successful company RhueArt, which has promoted Visual Artists from the Highlands and Islands in the national and international arena, for many years.

She has spent considerable time as a volunteer in various local organisations; gaining a great deal of experience plus a few grey hairs being part of these projects and their achievements.

A founding Director, then Chair, of Ullaspool, a community owed company which successfully sought funding to build and now run the Swimming pool.   She became Chairman of the Secondary School Board and was involved in the design, building and opening of the New School and Macphail Centre. During which time the Board were awarded two major Lottery grants: one to transform, what would have been a gym hall into the mid-scale theatre venue and other involved visual art work being integrated into the fabric of the building.
