this project is now complete
This project was developed as a result of the Thermal Imaging Survey which had identified areas of heat loss in local community buildings. UCT followed up the survey with an application to the Climate Challenge Fund, that was successful, for a grant of £19 744 to be used to pay for energy efficiency measures in the Ullapool Village Hall and Ullaspool.
Both buildings had some substandard, inefficient windows (note the bright red areas on the photos) many of which were either single glazed or double glazed with broken seals. The funding enabled these to be replaced with low e argon filled, double glazed windows which have an A energy rating. The pool also had a new set of doors installed while the hall also received additional cavity wall and loft insulation.
The project was completed at the end of 2010 and will not only save around 2 tonnes of carbon emissions each year, it will also help to tackle the two organisations energy bills.
