Working together for the good of the community is what Ullapool Community Trust is all about – and to make sure everyone has a chance to get involved, it’s now absolutely free to become a member.
As of the 1st June 2018, the current fee of £3 will no longer apply to any adult living within the UCT area, which stretches from Gruinard in the South to Elphin in the North and includes the populations of Little Loch Broom, Lochbroom, Ullapool, Rhue and Elphin.
Why join? Being a member is a great way of showing your support for your local community. It also allows you to vote at UCT AGM’s and be eligible to apply for election to the UCT board where you can be part of the team who volunteer to help steer the organisation in service of the community. . UCT Chair Flick Hawkins says “The UCT board decided to remove the previous membership fee to encourage as many people as possible to have a direct connection with UCT through becoming a member. After all, UCT was created to represent the interests of the community by applying for funding and delivering projects that directly benefit us all”. Associated membership (also free) is available for those living outside of the UCT area although it does not carry any voting rights.
Current members who had previously paid by standing order, will receive an email announcing the new free membership with an invitation to either cancel the existing standing order or convert it to a donation to UCT. Funds received by UCT allow us to work for the benefit of the community promoting and supporting other local groups and organisations as well as funding our own distinct projects.
