We now have an improved warmer and more welcoming New Broom. Thanks to your donations and funding from HIE and The Harbour Trust, our lovely new wood burner is doing sterling work keeping the chills away. In January we will be part of the Tesco Bags for life appeal and so will hopefully get some more funds for the next stage of the works.
Several local groups have made use of our space over the last year, selling cards, t-shirts, flowers and calendars to promote their different causes. Effie’s band of volunteers raised over £1005 for Gino’s Cantina when they took over the shop for the day during Loopallu. Row the Minch for MS, Made in Ullapool, Clachan Church Trust and ATS’ Dolphin Project are amongst those we have supported in this way.
One of the main purposes of the New Broom is to reduce the community’s impact upon the environment and its contribution to landfill. We promote the circular economy through the sale of repurposed, preloved and upcycled items. We also stock Ecover and Faith in Nature refills, so don’t forget to bring along your empty cleaning product, shampoo or shower gel bottles for us to replenish.
